6 Hours

As part of Manifesta 11, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art

"6 Hours" is a pilgrimage to connect places and rewind time through exhibition, land art and theatrical dance in collaboration with landscape designer Ms. Vincci Mak from Hong Kong and dancer Ms. Eva Maria Küpfer from Zurich.

Time zone refers to a region on the world map that has a unified time. It is inspired by the rotation of the earth, causing day and night - but is never “natural”. The 6-hour time difference between Zurich and Hong Kong is indeed artificial.

Rather than treating time as a measurement of the irreversible succession between the past, the present, and the future, “6 Hours” allows our perceived time to dominate our experience. Making use of container houses that were anticipating Syrian refugee, fabric from one of the oldest market in Hong Kong that was about to shut down, and chairs that could be rearranged by the performer by improvisation, the backdrop fragment and distort the projections of drawings from previous NuDD workshops, which in turns inspire drawings at a new workshop.
